The character thumbnails, particularly, have a lot of life to them. I think the one of Mowgli sleeping in a pile with the other cubs tells a great story. There's a lot about how you've drawn Mowgli that really says "Happy Jungle Kid."
On the environment, I wouldn't hone in so much on one so early. I think you've still got some things to figure out at the sketch stage of this. Perspective might be one. It's stylized, but the ground still gives the feeling of tipping straight down towards us like a flat plane. There is probably more you can do with the negative space of the cave, too, besides leaving it a black polygon, and some interesting debris you could add to the foreground to give ambiance.
I do not know what the duck and cube are doing with this, but they're welcome to come along.
